Using the gift of choice well
As I observed the two minutes’ silence for Remembrance Sunday I was reminded not only of the phenomenal, devastating waste of conflict but also the gift of choice so many now enjoy because of the sacrifice of a generation which didn’t.
We have a responsibility to use that gift of choice well and in service of our fellow human beings, and of creating a world where the ‘currency’ is love and kindness and compassion rather than conflict – whether over trivial matters, or economics, or ideology, or territory.
For each of us individually that may seem like an overwhelming aspiration. Yet an intention set and nurtured in our own seemingly small lives has a reach and impact far beyond that we can imagine as it connects and integrates with the positive intention of so many others in our human family.
If we move through each moment of each day choosing to extend love and compassion to all life we are ensuring that we are fulfilling our part in creating a different world. And if we reflect at the end of each day on how we did, how well we exercised our choices, we will be renewing and re-energising our intention for the moments to come.
Surely that’s a choice worth making and a choice we can all make?
