For various reasons I’m being called on to surrender in my life. Not easy when you are used to taking responsibility, figuring things out, having an insight that guides.
Surrender, at least for me can feel like giving up, giving in, being weak.
And yet as I have sat with it more, I realise in fact it isn’t.
It takes applied will to let go, to let come.
Thinking we know best or just ought to know, that we must try harder to sort something or solve a conundrum, can prevent us from being open to whatever wants to come – even if it takes months or years to reveal itself. Requiring another set of qualities – acceptance and patience.
If we cooperate with insight from a place of surrender the quality of that insight will undoubtedly improve.
As leaders we rarely get the opportunity to surrender, to let go and accept what is. It’s not in the manual.
Perhaps it should be?
