Along with thousands of other B Corps around the globe, we’re celebrating B Corp month and the commitment and action all are taking socially and environmentally to help build a better world.
Of course, it isn’t about parties or holding this commitment top of mind for one month every year, rather dedication to be and do better for the greater good, day-in, day-out.
It means recognising that we are all connected, part of a vast system, as is enshrined in the Declaration of Interdependence that all B Corps sign when they have gained certification, so that all we do comes from a place of will to collective good not self-interest.
Living and leading from this systemic perspective isn’t easy. It calls us to deeper thinking and consideration even when circumstances are screaming for instant response.
And yet holding ourselves to exacting standards, caring for, and in service of, people and planet, as well as profit, is the substance of leadership.
azzur was founded, 24 years ago, on the principle that business and leaders can help build a better world. Notwithstanding the challenging certification process becoming a B Corp was a natural progression.
That said, setting and living to a higher purpose doesn’t need certification. It just needs us all to commit and act consistently in this direction. Given where our world is at isn’t this our collective moment?
