Awakening our explorer spirit

Start Reading

It’s been a week!

Days of working to get different software systems to talk to each other and ‘conversing’ with chatbots, trying to penetrate the rigidity of their scripts, to access help. A life on repeat.

Eventually a breakthrough has been made. Everything looks like it is synced (fingers crossed).

As frustrating as the process has been the learning is valuable for when we encounter any new challenge…

  • Patience, that old fashioned virtue, is vital when dealing with the new and unfamiliar.
  • Tempting as it is to throw our hands up and give up persistence is key. Not trying the same thing on repeat but asking a different question at each roadblock. Reframing until new insight emerges.
  • Explore and experiment – my challenge has been about the complexities of technology (and yes, some find it simple) but complex, new challenges crop up with increasing frequency for us all, in work and out. Adopting an explorer mindset gives a sense of progress.
  • Be conscious – of why we’re doing/choosing what we’re doing and the impact it will have, or enable, in the world. Making moves that contribute positively matter, even the smallest decision can have unhelpful consequences.
  • Lean into Nothing replaces the help and support asked for and given, human to human. ‘Forgetting’ the power of relationship when we’re stuck in the problem is perilous. Even if the other you reach out to can’t fix it, they can help you find an alternative perspective.

Happy exploring.
